I adopted Jack XVI, now called Winston and lives in VA, in May, 2009. He is now 12 1/2 and has been a joy all these years! He has always gotten along with other family dogs, with new rescues after an older dog crosses the RAINBOW Bridge. He is everything that was written about him and so much more!  I cannot thank MAESSR enough for this incredible dog and the blessing he is/has been to me!

It was 3 years ago today that we invited "Oliver 6 / Olive Branch" into our home and Oliver, we kept the name, is one happy, well-adjusted pup. When he got here, he was only 6 months old and full of that crazy Springer energy. Three years later, he hasn’t slowed down much and our vet told us “he’s in the prime of his life”. Oliver is fun, affectionate and soooo smart. Everywhere we go, there is always someone who says “what a handsome boy you have there!”. He’s truly become a part of our family. We want to thank everyone at MAESSR for sending us such a good friend

We got Boone from MAESSR when he was 6 years old. He was not dog-friendly and not good with young children, which presented some problems for us.  However, he loved us unconditionally, and he deserved the same from us. We introduced him to swimming.  He was hesitant at first, but he quickly became a water dog.  He loved car rides and just being with his people. We lost Boone very suddenly and unexpectedly on Sept. 11,2018 due to a bleeding tumor in his spleen. It was one month shy of his 13th birthday. He was great up until that last morning. There is a huge hole in our hearts that will never be filled. Even if we get another dog, there will never be another Boone

I found Finn, an 18 month American cocker who made himself at home and in my heart in less than 24 hours.                                                  Debi, VA

: Our family adopted Whiskey 1/1/2010. He was AMAZING from day 1.  Last month, Whiskey passed from an aneurysm.  We are grateful to have had him in our life.  We look forward to helping a "rescue" again in the near future, just not ready yet.  Will call MAESSR 1st, they were professional and COMPLETELY honest with all details of the adoption (which is rare w/Rescue Groups) and followed up regularly.  We all hope that Whiskey enjoyed the 7yrs he spent with us as much as we did having him!  Thank you all at MAESSR, from the adoption professionals, to the transport team, to the follow-up the family who had fostered Whiskey did several times a year

My wife Melinda and I adopted Nico (formerly Nikki III) when she was 6 or 7 years old in 2009. She passed away last month from pancreatic cancer. We just wanted to thank Maessr for 8 wonderful years with Nico. From the moment we picked her up from the foster family, she was perfect. Never giving us a minute of trouble and she gave us so much joy during that time whether she was wagging her little nub so hard it looked if she was trying to dance or snoozing with her mom on the couch while watching TV, she was a pure joy. She had a pretty rough first half of her life and we did our best to spoil her so she would have the best second half. 8 great years for my wife and I and we can't thank Maessr enough!!

We adopted Hudson Class of 2006. On 1/12/17 Hudson traveled to Rainbow Bridge. He was a velcro dog thru and thru. He loved everyone he met. We had a special bond from day one. He loved his treats and doggie ice cream. He would retreive our slippers from the closet and bring them to us and when finished eating he would bring us his bowl. He kept watch on his backyard and loved chasing squirrels and rabbits. He loved talking to the neighbor's dog when they were out. He gave us so very much and we loved him so. We are broken hearted with his passing and miss him so very much. Thank you MAESSR for putting him in our care. He was one very special loving cherished friend.

I adopted Piper from MAESSR early in 2010 when she was six. She died a month ago. In our time together, she gave me an inexpressible amount of joy. We were absolutely devoted to each other from the moment we laid us on each other and were practically inseparable. Her smile and that perpetually wagging stump of a tail never failed to dispel any gloom I might have been feeling. I cannot thank MAESSR enough for bringing me one of the most cherished relationships I will ever have. We were perfect for each other.

We lost our Hannah only days before Christmas.  She adopted us when she was 10 years old in 2009.  We cannot begin to describe the  exuberance she brought to us. She seemed to be aging backwards up until her last 2 days.  Thank you MAESSR for being the bridge between the sweetest of souls and our family.

We adopted Bobo (now Beaumont) in 2005 and he has been a wonderful companion to us on our farm.  He has slowed down in the last year, but until then was very energetic and loved to hunt.  About a year ago, he had a tangle with a porcupine and prior to that a couple of skunk encounters.  His hearing has dimmed, but he is so happy to greet us when we arrive home, always giving us a "gift" of a stick or a glove or some other treasure.  No dog has ever been loved more, and we are so grateful for MAESSR  for sending our boy  to us!

We lost are Marley on the 15th of Oct 2015. She was a fighter, and loved to be a dog if you just gave her a chance. Marley the name described her pretty well, like the book or even the movie she kept us alert and let us know that we were not the only one's on the planet. She kept us on our toes. She never met a human she did not like.Marley, nick named MarleeDo by me was my dog.If there was ever a dog that mankind could learn from it would be you.

We adopted Yoshi (Van) 2 months ago.  He has settled into our family nicely.  He is the perfect dog.  Yoshi is a hit everywhere he goes.  His little tail never stops wagging and his tongue never stops giving kisses.  He seems to love his new family and I know we love him dearly.  Thank you MAESSR !              Hott Family, PA

in 2005, I adopted Charlz, the Springer Love-of-my-life.  Charley was with me constantly when I was home and as good as gold when I wasn't.  He'd sit at the window waiting for me to come home from work.  Who knew he could tell time?  Charley passed away on Mother's Day this year and I look for him still every day at that window.

We adopted 3 month old puppy, "Twitter," now called Ruthie, from MAESSR Dec. 21,2010. She is the delight of our life though "a little out of the ordinary. She'd had to be bottle fed at 3 weeks when first fostered and at 4.5 years, she prefers her people sit on the floor with her and feed her. She primarly is vegetarian, preferring swiss chard, berries, all greens, cheese and oats but will take fish if "fresh caught." She has never had an accident and has 2 other rescue dogs much older than she is to learn from. She has a fenced acre of land and has maintained her girlish full grown figure of 22 lbs. Our oldest dog is 12.5 and has cancer. When the time comes, we hope to be fortunate to adopt  from MAESSR again.

In 2004, I adopted Hannah from MAESSR. What a joy she has been in my life for the past 10 years! Hannah passed last Thursday. My angel will always be missed. Hannah had a hard start in life and was rescued with 7 other dogs in Maryland. She never looked back and thrived in her new life. Thank you all for all of your hard work to rehome these wonderful dogs!

In Aug 2012, I lost my heart dog Sebastian who I adopted from MAESSR in 2003.  After a few months, I was ready to adopt another special Springer rescue. Along came Nick to rescue me.  It it now 2 years and he is a perfect fit for my husband and me.  He has given us much joy and I can't imagine our home without him.  MAESSR does a fantastic job of matching up families with the appropriate dog. This group is one of the most organized rescue groups in the country.  Thanks to all the MAESSR volunteers for all you do.

It broke my heart to have to give up my Zara, but sometimes life throws you curve balls. MAESSR was gracious enough to foster her and find her a new home. Not a day goes by that I don't think about her, but I know she will be bring joy to her new family. God bless those folks who open their hearts and homes to help these awesome dogs.

We adopted Montgomery (we call him Montie) and he is so full of love!  He is 14 but still acts like a pup.  Loves to go for walks and find puddles to lay down in.  He asks permission to come up on the bed to sleep with me by scratching the side of the bed before leaping up.  His favorite snack is ice cubes.  He discovered the Atlantic Ocean this summer and tried to drink it. . . bad idea later as he found out. He has the fun of the house while we are at work and is very well behaved.  Thanks MAESSR!

Eight years ago we adopted a senior Springer named "Buddy" from MAESSR. Last week, at age 16, we had to say good bye to our special boy for now and send him to Rainbow Bridge. We have such heavy hearts and miss Buddy dearly but know we have been so blessed to have him as part of our family for so long. We encourage anyone considering adoption to look to a wonderful senior Springer! Thank you MAESSR for all you do and for the honor of raising this wonderful senior boy. "Bud Boy," you will forever be in our hearts!

Thanks MAESSR for all that you do to protect and save these dogs. Flash is alive and well because of your services. We got all of the matted hair gone from his feet and can't wait till we get his new growth back and he can have pretty boy feathers. He acts like he has lived with the two other dogs and two cats all along after a week. Perfect boy, thank you so very much. Wish I could add a new pic.

When I got divorced at the beginning of 2012 I was desperate to find a home for Remi, my best friend and hunting companion for the last nine years.  Due to the marriage ending and my relocation I could not keep him.  While it broke my heart to give him up, I found peace knowing the wonderful folks at MAESSR would find him a forever home with the love I would have given him.  I have heard from his new owners and they are a big happy family.  Please tell my old friend I think of him often and thank you all for what you do.

I adopted Scout in January 2004.  He was my first dog, let alone a rescue. MASSER and his foster mom was there to help when Scout had issues going to the vet. Sadly my buddy moved to the rainbow bridge last June. However,  he was a GREAT dog for the 9 years that he was with me. I can't wait to adopt another Springer from MASSER!!

This Thanksgiving marked two years of adopting Macguire, now 13. He is so special, so smart, and so resilient. He survived a tumor surgery this summer and is doing better than ever now! We found out he is an expert swimmer after we put a pool in the backyard last summer. Jonah is 3 and thinks he's our third human boy! Our boys are his best friends and he enjoys every minute of every day! Thank you MAESSR for enriching our lives!

Thanks MAESSR, for all the support with our adoption of Molly Marie on 10/20/12, her subsequent passing on 10/20/13 from cancer and our adoption of Tip on 1/20/14. We lost our beloved 14 year old Springer, Chelsea in April.  We knew that, in time, we would bring a rescue dog into our home...two weeks later we adopted two wonderful Springers from MAESSR, Fiona and Freckles.  They have given us a new lease on life--they are both very loving, happy, and special dogs!  As volunteers with MAESSR, we knew what a good job MAESSR always does in finding the perfect "furever" homes for the dogs in their care, but we are luckily now the recipients of that expertise!  Thank you for the privilege of being part of such a wonderful and caring organization and thank you for sending us Fiona and Freckles to help heal our broken hearts.

Thank you MAESSR, Logan changed my life and I will be forever grateful. He's missed terribly this morning - the one week anniversary of his crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Today, I honor him with happy memories of our time together. I love you Logan and thank you for your love shown to me. I wish peace and happiness for you.  The MAESSR family will always hold a special place in my heart - thank you for your tremendous work, well done.
