Three years ago, we made the best decision in
deciding to adopt another ESS. Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog
ever. She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by
everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey. Judy Minnick, NJ

Davina's Story . . .
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Original: “Bunni
loves playing tug with a squeaky toy and wrestling doggie bones from her sister.”
Sisters Davina and Demi became MAESSR pups when their
Maryland owner became ill and had to rehome the Springers in his breeding
kennel.
At 14 weeks old Davina aka Bunni is a happy healthy 15 pound bundle of
adorable puppy energy. She loves to play with her littermate racing
around the fenced yard, tackling each other, and then starting off again. Bunni
loves playing tug with a squeaky toy and wrestling doggie bones from her sister. Then, off she will run to play catch me if
you can. Curious and adventuresome, she will explore new places inside
and out searching for treasures like stones, leaves, and an occasional shoe.
Bunni is learning to walk on a leash and going for a walk is a highlight
of her day with lots of new smells and people to greet.
Visits to the vet have gone well with plenty of puppy love to spread
around to the staff. Although she has
not gone to an outside groomer yet, Bunni was good when her foster mom bathed
her, cleaned her ears, and handled her feet.
Housetraining is going well. Calling “Bunni come” has her flying down the
stairs to the door. Though outside often, she still uses a puppy pad a few
times a day. When placed in the exercise pen for short periods, Bunni
will climb out. When she is put back in and is reminded to stay, she complies
while chewing a bone or a toy until she is let out.
Potential adopters should note that MAESSR only places
puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in
obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and
they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a
healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce
this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and under to
enroll their puppy in a series of obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.
Bunni is a very smart little pup and will be a good pupil. She already rides nicely in the car.
Bunni’s weekdays are spent playing and napping at her foster
mom’s feet while she works from home. This little Velcro girl always wants to
know where her people are so she never strays far. Winding down to
bedtime she has mastered the art of the snuggle cuddling with her foster
parents before going out one last time for the night. Then she goes into the crate to sleep, waking
to a dry bed in the morning.
