Three years ago, we made the best decision in
deciding to adopt another ESS. Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog
ever. She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by
everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey. Judy Minnick, NJ

Grace 13's Story . . .
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Original: “She is really excited when she sees her foster parents--not only her
butt, but also her entire body wiggles! “
Anna, as she is fondly called, made her way into MAESSR from a
rescue in Louisiana where she was found as a stray with her leash
attached. The rescue tried to find the owner to no avail. Anna had
been hit by a car; fortunately all she sustained was a bit of road rash,
nothing broken, no internal injuries. She had some pain on her right
shoulder at the time of the accident and was non-weight bearing on her right
leg. She has healed from road rash and occasionally favors her right
shoulder when she is over active; otherwise she is doing great!
Anna has met children on her walks and does well with
them. A real wiggle butt/body! She
has met the resident dogs and is doing well with them. The one resident
dog who loves other dogs wanted to play with her, but Anna wanted no part of
play with him in the beginning; after a few days of adjustment, she wanted to
play with him, but he no longer wanted to play with her. Go figure!
This southern belle is doing well with going potty outside.
She can hold it all night but does have submissive urination upon being excited
to meet someone. She is a passive, little girl! Otherwise, when
needing to go potty she will run to the door. Good girl! Anna does sleep in a crate at night but needs
encouragement to go in. She sleeps quietly
all night once she settles. She is really excited when she sees her
foster parents--not only her butt, but her entire body wiggles!
Anna's house manners are very good. She has not investigated
anything she shouldn't and doesn't chew on inappropriate items. Miss A. is too
short to counter-surf or trash dive! Anna loves to go for walks,
stopping often to sniff—and loves to meet people on her walks. If she hears a dog barking in a yard, she will
stop to look and maybe contribute a woof or two! Anna is not much of a
barker, but if she hears a strange sound a couple of woofs may come out.
Anna knows “come,” “no,” and “sit.” She and her family are working on “down” and “stay.”
Anna has not resource guarded anything, but did eat separately from the resident dogs in her temporary foster home and
sometimes likes her foster parents to be
with her while she dines!! She is fine with having her fur combed and is
good with having her ears and paws handled. Her paws had extra hair on
them, and she did fine having them trimmed.
Anna has some toys and she's learning more each day on how to play
with them. If tossed Anna will go and bring the toy back allowing it to
be easily taken from her and tossed again. She is active but not overly so.
She will run about outside as long as foster mom is out. Annie is also
adaptable to just chilling out! She loves to be near her foster parents,
loves belly rubs and loves to cuddle and held.
The new girl in town did well at the vet, letting them check her
limbs, get a urine sample and microchip her.
She traveled well in the car by settling down and just enjoying the
ride.
Anna is a gem—a very special little girl who would love to have
a forever home and folks that would take her for a lot of walks, play with her,
but mostly love and cuddle her. When being held Anna melts right into her
person’s arms. She is one sweet
special little girl!!
