  •  Three years ago, we made the best decision in deciding to adopt another ESS.  Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog ever.  She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Judy Minnick, NJ

Faith 3's Story . . .
Original:  “Faith is a very sweet loveable puppy who is learning all about being a good house dog.”

When a Maryland kennel was closing, MAESSR volunteered to place its Springers.  Pregnant Aurora was one of these dogs and she whelped three female puppies on July 4— Faith, Love, and Hope.  The pups spent their first few months with their mother, then Faith and her sisters were taken to other foster families to continue their training. Faith is believed to be a English Springer Spaniel/Spanish Water Dog mix.  Her mother is a beautiful black/white springer.  However we believe her father was a Spanish Water Dog.
Faith is a very sweet, loveable puppy who is learning all about being a good house dog.  Housetraining is a work in progress and accidents still occur.  Since Faith has not learned about signaling yet, her foster mom tries to take her out every few hours when she is home.  When she is at work during the day, Faith stays in the back sunroom and if she has to eliminate, she goes on a training pad provided. At night Faith is crated.  Faith likes to jump up on humans and on furniture, so her foster family is working on that.
Please note that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs under 1 year old to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.  Faith will be a star pupil.
A typical puppy, Faith loves to chew and she has many toys she enjoys playing with, especially rope toys and the kong.   She also enjoys playing with the resident five year old Springer.  Although the resident male had to make a big adjustment having a puppy in the house, they are now best of friends.  She enjoys going out for her walks with him and she walks very well on a leash. She does alright on short car rides but if she is in the car too long, she will get sick.
Faith loves to eat and is fed twice daily. She and the resident Springer are fed separately as Faith is still on puppy food and the resident is on a special diet food.  Of course, they’d like to eat each other’s food so keeping them separated at mealtime is best.  .
Faith’s first grooming experience occurred a few weeks ago and the said she was wonderful!  Her foster mom does bathe her every couple of weeks and she does not seem to mind it.
Faith would love to have a forever family where someone is home most of the time so that she can receive the training, exercise, and attention she deserves.
