Three years ago, we made the best decision in
deciding to adopt another ESS. Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog
ever. She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by
everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey. Judy Minnick, NJ

Charley 2's Story . . .
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Update 03/29/2019: “After spending her final years in a comfortable, secure, loving MAESSR home, Charley went to the Rainbow Bridge peacefully."
Despite becoming a slightly senile, frail old lady, Charley was content to sleep, eat (she still enjoyed eating!) and have help going out to potty. But her body was failing her, and, Wednesday, her foster mom came home to find her in distress and knew the time had come. After spending her final years in a comfortable, secure, loving MAESSR home, Charley went to the Rainbow Bridge peacefully. Run free, sweet girl!
Original: “MAESSR’s seniors are the very best the Springer breed has to offer, and Lady C is one of the best of the best.”
Charley, or Lady Charlotte, as is reported to be her registered name, was found trying to cross a busy highway by a Pennsylvania good Samaritan. Her original owner, while in the process of moving due to extenuating circumstances, had given Charley to another family on a trial basis. Apparently, Charley, unleashed, wandered away, perhaps following her Springer instincts to tract some scent or other. The trial family felt they should not keep her, her original family indicated they would euthanize her, and her good Samaritan asked for MAESSR’s help. And, so, this lovely senior is now living the life of Riley (female version) in a comfortable MAESSR foster home.
Charley’s good Samaritan reported that this love has a good appetite, loves to go for walks on a leash (she pulls initially, but settles in nicely). He was careful about letting her off leash as she would not be able to hear her person calling and would just continue her happy wanderings. She did try to pull him toward a nearby creek, so swimming may be one of her loves. She jumps right in the car settling down nicely to be sniffing at the cracked window.
Take a look at the picture of the lovely lovey on her website page. Her foster mom cannot believe by her appearance or her behavior that she is fifteen years of age. Charley looks and acts more like a ten year old and has been a joy to have in the home. Her teeth are good, eyes fairly clear; she has no graying and is very active. She loves all people and other animals (not sure about those pesky felines sometimes) and enjoys whatever attention comes her way.
MAESSR’s seniors are the very best the Springer breed has to offer, and Lady C is one of the best of the best. Here’s to many more years of trouble free life for this love.
