Three years ago, we made the best decision in
deciding to adopt another ESS. Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog
ever. She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by
everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey. Judy Minnick, NJ

Buddy 42's Story . . .
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Original: “But, what he may lack in looks, he makes up for in smarts and personality.”
Buddy came from a Pennsylvania puppy mill. His owner thought he would be a Cavalier Springer but when she arrived to pick him up he was bigger than expected. She bought Buddy and gave him to MAESSR so he would not have to stay in the puppy mill conditions.
This Velcro boy is a papered Springer who does not have show markings. His face is cute but not symmetric, and his foster mom thinks he will have a small build. But what he may lack in looks, he makes up for in smarts and personality!
Buddy is almost housetrained, but, although he was kept in a cage with his brother before MAESSR, he is not crate trained. He has several chew toys for his teething and is not chewing furniture. He has good house manners—does not get on furniture, bark, counter-surf, or trash dive, but will stand up to see what is on the counter. This new family member is allowed off lead outside and stays on the property. He loves his walks and knows to do his business when on a leash. He sleeps on a doggie bed in the bedroom. He lets his foster mom touch him all over and has learned to ride well in the car.
Buddy loves playing tug-of-war and carries around his toys. He will fetch a ball and bring it back a few times. He loves the neighbor kids coming up to him and petting him, but is not interested in other dogs or people on a walk. He is not a high energy level boy. This love is still a puppy and cannot run for a long time.
Buddy is a great dog and, after being altered and receiving his vaccinations in November, and will do well in any home that is ready and willing to help him grow to be the best Springer he can be. MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.
