Three years ago, we made the best decision in
deciding to adopt another ESS. Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog
ever. She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by
everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey. Judy Minnick, NJ

Betty's Story . . .
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
Original: “She is crate-trained but
doesn’t like the crate and figured out how to open the crate’s door! She
is a smart Betty!!!”
Betty came to MAESSR
because she has a serious skin condition that needed to be addressed and
her Pennsylvania owner did not have the financial resources for Betty’s
treatment. The difficult decision was made to relinquish her to MAESSR so
she could be given the help she needed.
Betty has significant
skin problems - crusty, red and itching - and no hair on her belly or rear
legs. She receives a couple of medicated baths a week. She is also
on an antibiotic and anti-fungal to help her skin. The improvement in ten
days of this routine and the addition of thyroid supplement has made a major
difference in this young lady. She has much more energy. All the
places on her skin that were oozing and raw are now healing and drying.
Soon she will be healthy enough to be spayed.
She is a sweet girl who
has never bitten, snapped or shown any signs of aggressive behavior with people
or animals. She lived with three small children in her former home and
was good with them. Betty was living with eight cats and a new kitten and
was very sweet and respectful. She actually slept with three of the
cats.
She only barks to alert
and rarely does that. She doesn’t dig, jump the fence, submissively
urinate, beg for food or counter-surf. Betty will jump on people in
greeting.
Betty has never had any
obedience training but knows “sit.” She is crate trained but doesn’t like
the crate and figured out how to open the crate’s door! She is a smart
Betty!!! Betty walks well on the leash, rides well in the car, and
is very good for grooming and baths. Although she is frightened of severe
thunderstorms, she doesn’t have a problem with fireworks and for fun loves to
go for walks and play with her tennis ball. Since she also enjoys playing
in a wading pool, she might enjoy living near a lake or river.
This sweet girl will
make some family very happy. Watch for updates as she continues her
beautification process and becomes the healthy, happy Springer who will always
be ready for walks, ball play and cuddles.
