Three years ago, we made the best decision in
deciding to adopt another ESS. Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog
ever. She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by
everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey. Judy Minnick, NJ

Available Dogs
For the last 10 years, the number of springers coming into rescue has declined every year. This trend has been occurring with all of the springer rescues in the US. We know that the springers are not being over looked in shelters and we will continue to help any springers that need us, as is and has always been our mission.
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) we do not have enough dogs coming into our rescue to place with the families already on our waiting list in a timely manner. From a rescue stand point, this is the best news ever. However as potential adopter on our waiting list, this can be an excruciating wait. We feel for the people waiting for a springer to join their family and do not want to give false hope that they can get one from us in a timely manner.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We hope that each of you find a dog to love.

What “Status” Means For a Foster Dog
On HOLD: MAESSR keeps all dogs "on hold" for a minimum of two weeks from the date it enters foster care. The dog may then continue “on hold,” pending completion of medical or training needs. During this time, each dog is vetted (ie, spayed/neutered, microchipped, brought up-to-date on vaccines, HW tested, fecal tested and treated for any ailments found during the vet check), housetrained and work on basic manners is completed. An exception is little puppies as they have just begun learning. A dog may continue “on hold” for training needs.
AVAILABLE: A dog becomes “available” when evaluation and vetting are complete. At this point the dog is ready for placement but has not been offered to a specific family. When a dog is “available”, approved families are welcome to inquire about the dog through the adoption coordinators.
OFFERED: When a dog is “offered,” the adoption coordinators have matched the dog to an approved family on the waiting list. Families are only on the approved list once they have had their interview, all screening has been completed and they have received email from one of the application coordinators stating that they have been approved and have been added to the waiting list. When a dog is “offered,” the family receiving the offer is put in touch with the foster family and they have the opportunity to discuss the dog to determine if it is a good match for them.
ADOPTION PENDING: A dog that is “adoption pending” has been offered to a pre-approved family and the family has accepted the offer. All that remains is working out the details of transfer to the new home.
PERMANENT FOSTER: This dog will remain in the permanent care of MAESSR due to various reasons and will not be offered for adoption.
HEALTH LINE Details:
UTD : The dog has received all necessary vaccinations.
HW- : The dog has tested free of heartworm disease.
HW+: The dog tested positive for heartworm disease and is being treated by MAESSR.
UTI : The dog has a urinary tract infection and is being treated for this medical issue.
You can expect a minimum of 4 to 8 months wait for a Springer to adopt.
