  •  Three years ago, we made the best decision in deciding to adopt another ESS.  Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog ever.  She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Judy Minnick, NJ

Winnie 5's Story . . .
___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Update 10/09/2019: "Sadly, it became apparent that her temperament was such that she was not suitable for adoption."

Winnie spent several months with a very experienced foster family in order to address behavioral issues. Sadly, it became apparent that her temperament was such that she was not suitable for adoption.

Be free at the Bridge, Winnie.

Update 06/06/2019:  “She is good with all of the resident dogs but would be best matched with dogs her size or larger.”

Winnie is making strides towards more improvement in her manners and behavior. Although there is still work to be done, slow and steady progress continues.

Winnie has no guarding issues and she shares her bones and toys willingly. She is good with all of the resident dogs but would be best matched with dogs her size or larger.

At a recent vet visit, Winnie had blood work done plus urine and heartworm testing. Her vaccines were updated as well. Although she was nervous during the visit, she only needed restraint from the vet assistant to have all of the procedures done.

Keep a lookout for Winnie as she strives to become the best Springer girl she can be.

Original: "This pretty girl's ideal forever home would be an adult family that is looking for a best friend for their resident dog, a fenced yard, and lots of hugs and kisses."

Winnie came to MAESSR because her New Jersey owners didn’t trust her with their children.

Winnie is housetrained and not accustomed to being in a crate.  When her foster mom is at home, Winnie is loose with the resident dogs and has free run of the house.  When her foster mom is out of the house, Winnie is in a confined area.  She and the resident dogs do not have access to the kitchen so it is unknown if Winnie counter-surfs or gets into the garbage.

A perfect house guest, Winnie loves people and gets along great with other dogs and cats.  She enjoys getting on the couch with her foster mom and cuddling when she isn’t playing with the resident dogs.  She loves car rides, too.

When greeting other people and other dogs, Winnie does like to jump to say hi and gets excited.  She does respond to the commands “sit,” “down,” and “wait.”  Her foster mom is working on Winnie’s manners while being walked on a leash.  Although Winnie enjoys toys, she is not possessive with them or her food.  In her forever home, Winnie will require exercise on a regular basis; she is well-behaved as long as she gets the proper exercise.

This pretty girl’s ideal forever home would be an adult family that is looking for a best friend for their resident dog, a fenced in yard, and lots of hugs and kisses.
