    Mojo 6's Story . . .
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Original:  “Because Mojo is still a puppy at heart, his future home should include lots of space to run.”

This energetic boy was found as a stray on a farm in Maryland and was surrendered to a shelter.  MAESSR was contacted to help find Mojo a great home.

Mojo has made himself at home with his foster family.  His foster mom reports that he loves to snuggle on the sofa, the backyard lounge chair, or wherever he can be close to her.  He also enjoys playing with his soccer ball and taking car rides.  Mojo has not been to a groomer, but he seems to like being brushed, and has done well being handled.  While at the shelter, the staff removed his tangles and matted fur.  What a beauty they found under all that mess!

Besides loving adults, Mojo was friendly with a three year old child he met but he was a little too energetic and inadvertently frightened the toddler.  Older children would probably be a more appropriate match for him.  Mojo is very kind to the geriatric Springer in his foster home and although he has not met any cats while in foster care, his family believes he would be fine with them.

His foster mom is working with Mojo on good leash manners, as he has a tendency to pull.  Housetraining is also in process for this former stray.  To facilitate this, Mojo is being introduced to crate training.  While he not fully trained yet, he has no problem with the crate.  He is a very curious boy and enjoys a bit of counter-surfing, but responds well when told “no.”  Mojo does not know any other commands.

MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes. Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things! The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment. To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and younger to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption.  Because he wants to please his people, listens well, and loves praise, Mojo will be a good student.

Because Mojo is still a puppy at heart, his future home should include lots of space to run.  Ideally, Mojo’s family will be able to walk him and keep up with his energy level.  This sweet boy needs lots of attention and would benefit from an active, loving home.
