  • We got Boone from MAESSR when he was 6 years old. He was not dog-friendly and not good with young children, which presented some problems for us.  However, he loved us unconditionally, and he deserved the same from us. We introduced him to swimming.  He was hesitant at first, but he quickly became a water dog.  He loved car rides and just being with his people. We lost Boone very suddenly and unexpectedly on Sept. 11,2018 due to a bleeding tumor in his spleen. It was one month shy of his 13th birthday. He was great up until that last morning. There is a huge hole in our hearts that will never be filled. Even if we get another dog, there will never be another Boone.

Lucas's Story . . .
Original: This gentleman has not counter-surfed in his foster home, but he is a springer so that is still a possibility.”

This Virginian, Lucas, came to MAESSR when his previous owner could no longer care for him.  The family was aware of MAESSR’s work and knew their boy would find a wonderful home through rescue.

Lucas has a wonderfully sweet and loving personality.  He always wants to please his people and love on them at the same time.  He is crate trained and has not had any accidents in his foster home.  Lucas likes to ride in the car and is a very good passenger.  When going for a walk, Lucas does not pull on the leash and is easy to handle.  This gentleman has not counter-surfed in his foster home, but he is a springer so that is still a possibility.  He shares his foster home with several other dogs and has been extremely well behaved with all of them.

Poor Lucas………….. while he was under for neutering, the vet started doing a dental on him.  After the vet examined his mouth, tooth by tooth, Lucas had to have nine teeth pulled because they were in such bad shape.  With them gone, Lucas now feels much better.  He’s enjoying the canned food he gets to eat while his gums are sore and until they heal.

In the short time he’s been with his foster family, Lucas has impressed them as a cuddly and fun-loving companion.  Soon some lucky family will really enjoy his company!
