    Koda 4's Story . . .
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Original:   “Even chickens are his ‘friends;’ he walks right in the hen house and doesn't bother them at all.”

Koda came to MAESSR when his Pennsylvania family was not able to care for him. He has been through a lot--separating from his litter mate of nine years, losing his family and being kept in a garage for a time.  In spite of all these sad events, he is the sweetest, most loving Springer ever.

This manly man is a sweet true-to-the-name-Velcro-and-more Springer!   Koda wants a hand or foot of his human on him at all times.  He is THE BEST HOUSE GUEST, keeping in mind he needs to be by his person’s side at ALL times.

Through no fault of his own, this young acting Springer is overweight, slightly, weighing 78 pounds last week! His foster mom, dad and many fur siblings are working on this with him and making great strides!  Since he was used to people food, at first he did not like the diet he was offered in his foster home.  His snacks of broccoli and carrots were not really that appealing!

Koda knows “sit,” “come,” and “down.”   He cannot fetch ....because he cannot run yet. But, he is up to a short power walk!   Koda signals to go out and has not had one accident in his foster family’s home. He does not need a crate and has been left alone in the home—no counter-surfing or trash diving for this love.  He does cry at times, but is getting better every day.  His ear infections require treatment, but this fellow is good about taking medication and having his ears treated.

MAESSR’s new guy is great with other dogs and loves to be outside and in the barn.  Even chickens are his “friends;” he walks right in the hen house and doesn't bother them at all.  He just looks for the eggs—handy fellow to have around in the mornings!!

Mr. Velcro LOVES being part of a family and in a warm house.  His appreciation shows in his eyes and definitely in his wagging stub.  Do you have eggs that need gathering?   Is your home ready for a “big boy” who is learning to appreciate low-cal snacks?  Ready to go power walking?  Think how wonderful it would be to have this absolute love in your home for the new year.
