    Kate 8's Story . . .

Original:  “Kate is a snuggler and a lover.  If she can be really close to her person, she does not care what is going on; she is happy!”

Kate came to MAESSR when her Maryland owner could no longer afford to care for her.  The family agonized over the decision, but felt that letting MAESSR work its magic was in Kate's best interest long term. It was a tearful parting,  but the family knows she is in a good place now and will have everything she needs.

This lovely senior had two mammary lumps that were removed when she was spayed.  The great news is that when they were biopsied, they were not malignant.  Kate tested positive for Lyme disease and is currently being treated for that.  Her health now seems to be very good, and she looks fantastic for her age!

Kate has wonderful house manners with the exception that she will occasionally try to counter-surf.  She is quickly learning that is not acceptable.  She walks well on the leash and rides very well in the car. She is crate trained, but her favorite place to sleep is in bed with her foster family. If that is not acceptable, she will sleep on a nice fluffy dog bed. And, “we”—the “royal” we, you understand—do not spend much time with toys and would not be caught resource guarding food!  Children are o.k. for a little while, but then Kate will find a place to rest.

This gorgeous gal’s mission in life is to be "BEAUTIFUL.”  She loves to lie around in poses that show just how beautiful she is and sometimes gives her housemates a funny look if they try to get on the sofa when she is in residence.  The sofa is her throne!! She does not like to go outside when it is raining because "beautiful girls" don't get their hair wet!
