Joe's Story . . .
___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Update 02/05/2018:  At night he likes to sleep in the big bed with his foster mom…cuddling makes him very happy!”

Joe made a trip to the vet to be neutered, receive shots, and have an overall checkup.  He did extremely well.  The vet staff all went slowly with him and he was loving on them as they gave him injections.  He was found to have a really bad urinary tract infection and ear infections in both ears.  Treatment is almost complete on both.

Joe made a trip to the groomer for a bath and trim.  He handled all of the scary stuff very well.

The medication Joe is on has really helped his anxiety.  It is not known how long he will need to be on this; fortunately, it is inexpensive.  MAESSR is requiring that Joe stay on his anxiety medication for a minimum of six months after adoption to allow him time to settle in.

Joe's house training has been progressing very well.  At night he likes to sleep in the big bed with his foster mom…cuddling makes him very happy!

Joe is a very special boy that will add so much to his adoptive home.

Original:
“When Joe got to his foster home, he was scared of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE.”

Joe and Trixie were found as strays in a rural area of West Virginia. They were both very timid. The shelter was delighted that MAESSR could help with this cute pair. It was pretty obvious that they had been living outside.

When Joe got to his foster home, he was scared of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE.  He hid in a part of his foster family’s yard.  He slowly started playing with some of the other dogs and was becoming more and more brave.  His foster mom was finally able to get him to come inside.  Now he sticks to her like glue.

Joe has not been to the vet.  He is not far enough along yet to endure that scary adventure.  Hopefully in the next few weeks he will have progressed to the point that he could handle a road trip.  The things his foster mom knows about him so far are:  He is not housetrained, he is very gentle with people, he is a wonderful cuddler, and he wants to be like all of the other dogs but he is not there yet.

Keep an eye on Joe for his progress.  He is going to be an amazing dog for someone.
