  •  Three years ago, we made the best decision in deciding to adopt another ESS.  Zoey then came to us and is the BEST dog ever.  She is not only beautiful but so well behaved and is loved by everyone. We can't thank MAESSR and Debbie enough for giving us Zoey.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Judy Minnick, NJ

JJ 2's Story . . .

Original:  “This black haired beauty loves the baby pool and may get a chance to see if he likes creek swimming soon.”

When JJ's New Jersey owner passed away, the family gave a local rescue a week to find him a foster home before taking  him to the shelter. Despite his mixed heritage, MAESSR quickly stepped in to find him a foster home and helpful volunteers to provide transport.
Despite reportedly living outside with only access to a basement, JJ had learned to be housetrained and inside at some point in his life.  He paces by the door when he needs to go out but has no issues with marking, counter-surfing, trash diving or even putting a paw out of place.  As usual with his situation, he seemed to be waiting for his person to return for a while, but seemed happy to interact with the humans and resident dogs in the meantime.
Good on leash, except for wanting to stop and sniff at all the great odors, JJ is an easy foster. Car rides are o.k. with him also; he hangs out quietly in the back.   He doesn't seem to know “sit,” progressing instantly to drop and flop, but loves any kind of attention, especially being brushed.  The new guy in the house is not much of a barker, but does talk, making little moaning noises when a leash appears or the humans are putting on shoes to go out.  This black haired beauty loves the baby pool and may get a chance to see if he likes creek swimming soon.   After a few days in his foster home, JJ finally picked up a toy, Mr. Alligator, and carried him around, allowing the humans to take and throw the toy so that he could retrieve and happily play keep away while slinging the toy around.  When a chase didn't happen, he bumped the humans until they threw it again.
JJ is an easy guy to have around; he has no food aggression and is not pushy with the other dogs.  He has happy smiles and does not demand much but really appreciates all the love he gets.  Though perhaps not technically as beautiful as other full Springers, his attitude is great and he's looking for someone to just give him attention and let him shine.  Remember, “Springer” is just a state of mind.
