  • We got Boone from MAESSR when he was 6 years old. He was not dog-friendly and not good with young children, which presented some problems for us.  However, he loved us unconditionally, and he deserved the same from us. We introduced him to swimming.  He was hesitant at first, but he quickly became a water dog.  He loved car rides and just being with his people. We lost Boone very suddenly and unexpectedly on Sept. 11,2018 due to a bleeding tumor in his spleen. It was one month shy of his 13th birthday. He was great up until that last morning. There is a huge hole in our hearts that will never be filled. Even if we get another dog, there will never be another Boone.

Jenny 9's Story . . .

Original:  “This black and white beauty is one of the sweetest Springers her foster mom has ever known.”

Jenny was a breeding dog that lived in an outdoor kennel in West Virginia most of her life. Her owner began having some health issues so she made the decision to rehome Jenny.

This black and white beauty is one of the sweetest Springers her foster mom has ever known.  She is affectionately known as “the slut” because if any person is giving out loving to the dogs, Jenny is always in the middle of it. Everyone at the vet office wanted to adopt this sweet girl.  It has been almost three weeks since the groomer trimmed her and she is still talking about what a fantastic girl she is.  Jenny has been wonderful with every person she has met.
Jenny has been great with the many other dogs in her foster home, too.  Frequently, she is the leader of the pack as the dogs do laps around the yard.  Jenny is not a chaser and does not care too much for toys. She doesn’t like to play fetch but will run around with the other dogs.  Jenny can also be a little attention grabber. She will push the other dogs out of the way so that she can be the center of attention.  Generally, though, she is a submissive girl who is playful and active with other dogs.

Jenny came to MAESSR with entropion eyelids on both eyes.  This is a condition when the eyelids curl inwards and the lashes then rub on the eye constantly.  She had surgery to correct that and now is much happier.  While she was under for the eye surgery, the vet did a dental and extracted four nasty teeth.  Jenny had a bad urinary tract infection and hookworms.  She has been successfully treated for both.  The girl really feels great after all of this care.

Living as an inside dog now, Jenny is doing well with her housetraining which is almost complete.  She is crate trained, too.  She does not know basic commands, although she will “come” when called.  With a wonderful temperament, Jenny has never demonstrated any form of aggression towards animals or people.  She is a typical Velcro Springer although she can be a little too much “in your face” at times.

This girl is pure gold!  She is going to be an AWESOME addition to some lucky family.
