    Fred 5's Story . . .
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Update 08/25/2016:  This senior is a laid back gentleman with perfect house manners...no accidents, does not get on any furniture, and doesn’t get into anything.”

Fred is ready for that perfect home, even though he thinks his foster home suits him quite nicely! His infatuation with the resident girls there has been tempered by his neutering and the girls’ letting him know what is tolerated and what is not.

The anxiety described by his previous owner and first exhibited in his foster home is gone, maybe because he is surrounded by six other dogs.  Fred would do best in a home with at least one or two other dogs…where he is part of a “pack”…so he is never alone. He is not “clingy,” but does come over for loving and wants to be in contact with his person. This senior is a laid back gentleman with perfect house manners…no accidents, does not get on any furniture, and doesn’t get into anything.

He may be mellow, but is still active enough that he enjoys walks and swimming.  A trip to the beach proved he can’t get enough of swimming.  And, of course, with swimming comes ear maintenance which, if his ears are regularly checked, shouldn’t be an issue.

Fred has recently shown some interest in the kitties, but if they don’t run, it’s no fun!  And, speaking of activities, trimming his nails was NOT his favorite activity, but it got done. His last couple car rides (crated) were endured much better than earlier ones, but he was sharing a crate with another dog that was calm….buddy system!

Out in the yard Fred is not much of a barker; he lets the girls do the talking!  At mealtime he is given his own space only because he eats slowly and will leave his dish if someone else comes over to see what’s in it.  Both of the above go to show how mellow this guy is!

Seniors are among the best MAESSR has to offer.  Would this mellow guy who loves to swim fit with your family?  Do you have a couple of buddies for him?  Think about MAESSR’s guy, Fred.

    Original:
“Fred is a healthy, active senior proving that age is just a number.”

When his life-long owner recently got married, Fred was having difficulty adapting to the changes in his New York home.  His owner was not spending as much time with him and anxiety issues developed. The owner contacted MAESSR who he knew would find his beloved senior a new home where plenty of quality time could be devoted to Fred.

Otherwise, Fred is a healthy, active senior proving that age is just a number. He has some age related lumps, bumps, skin tags and cloudiness in eyes, but nothing to cause any alarm.  Fred has no mobility issues but won’t jump into the car on his own. Once in he has a difficult time settling down for the ride.

Fred fancies himself quite the ladies’ man and is obsessed with the female dogs in his foster home.  Luckily, he is very good at deferring to the girls when they tell him to go away, at least for a little while. Hopefully, this behavior will subside after Fred is neutered.  There are cats in Fred’s foster home and he is good with them!

The former owner reported Fred’s love of water in any shape-- puddle, lake, creek, bowl, or birdbath!  In these dog days of summer, that is a good trait to have in order to stay cool!
