  • We got Boone from MAESSR when he was 6 years old. He was not dog-friendly and not good with young children, which presented some problems for us.  However, he loved us unconditionally, and he deserved the same from us. We introduced him to swimming.  He was hesitant at first, but he quickly became a water dog.  He loved car rides and just being with his people. We lost Boone very suddenly and unexpectedly on Sept. 11,2018 due to a bleeding tumor in his spleen. It was one month shy of his 13th birthday. He was great up until that last morning. There is a huge hole in our hearts that will never be filled. Even if we get another dog, there will never be another Boone.

Duke 15's Story . . .

"Duke is doing very well in his crate and with potty training.”

When the owner of an adorable litter of Springer puppies developed health issues, MAESSR was contacted to help find these Pennsylvania pups wonderful new homes.
Duke joined a MAESSR foster home along with his sister, Alicia, as he became socialized and accustomed to the new world around him. There were so many new things to learn about and experience. This smart boy has been taking it all in as all puppies do. Together these pups are an energetic pair!  Generally they are great with other dogs, but as part of their training they are learning that senior dogs don’t take too kindly to puppy exuberance. They are practicing their manners and trying hard not to jump on or in the face of an older canine…good life skills, indeed!
Duke is doing very well in his crate and with potty training. He is very alert to the sounds and scents around him. A very happy pup, Duke is ready to join his new home and well on his way to becoming someone’s special friend.

It is important to understand that MAESSR only places puppies in homes that are committed to training and bonding with the pup in obedience classes.  Puppies require a lot of care, attention, and patience, and they do chew on things!  The decision to get a puppy and raise it to be a healthy, happy, and well-adjusted dog is a serious commitment.  To reinforce this commitment, MAESSR requires all adopters of dogs one year old and under to enroll their puppy in obedience classes within 60 days of adoption. Duke should be a star pupil!
