Description:

Update 03/03/08:

Trott has really settled into the routine of his foster home quite nicely. He has the typical high energy of a puppy and really benefits from twice daily runs on a golf course. He plays well with the “not so playful” resident Springer and a playful lab neighbor and is respectful of other dogs' boundaries. Trott is such a gentleman. He was inquisitive yet kind to the cat at the vet. His housebreaking issues were resolved once he got on his family’s schedule.

With people Trott is a natural. He has done wonderfully with several dinner parties at his foster home. He’s comfortable with visitors in and out all day long and with all the interaction in the 2nd grade carpool line. A crowd of 20 girls, squealing and petting him, is just another day at the office for lucky Trott. He is very in tune with the requests of his foster family. He tries at times to get wild but will settle down when firmly asked. He stays well in his designated areas of the home and is in his crate when the family leaves. Trott still loves to kidnap the stuffed animals that are left around, and, tearing them to bits has been his preferred way to deal with them. He’s not quite perfect……..he will countersurf if no one is watching!

Trott is a great puppy and will do well with a family that has time to wear him out every day and give him tons of hugs and kisses every day!!!

Original:

Trott was bred to be a hunting dog, but it turned out that he was not too keen on the idea of chasing birds. After some changes in living situations, he was relinquished to MAESSR.

Trott is a beautiful, 13 month old, liver and white fieldie with golden eyes, freckles and an extra long docked tail. He is remarkably calm, happy and gentle considering his age and the transitions he has experienced in his young life.

This youngster is very affectionate with his foster family— kids and resident Springer especially. He knows “sit” and “shake” and may have any toys or food taken out of his mouth. Displaying nice house manners for such a young Springer, Trott does not jump up or bark. He is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night on a cushion next to his foster mom's bed. He has had some accidents in the house, but this should work itself out as he becomes adjusted to his new surroundings and to a uniform schedule. Trott will chew on the stray pencil, toy, or scrap of paper, but his foster mom thinks this is good for the resident kids!

Trott has the abundant energy typical of his age, but a good twenty minute run twice a day results in model behavior. Trott is pretty good on a leash. In his first day walking to pick up his human sister, he did great in the chaos of second grade dismissal. He also does great riding in the car.

Trott is still a baby and needs the love, training, and attention of an active family. Although he was named after a baseball star, Trott's sweet spirit makes him a star in his own right.
