Stormy
Description:Update 02/12/08:This news on Stormy from her foster family……the absolute best kind of news!! Stormy is a special, smart senior lady who would like a “furever” home for the rest of her days. She has trouble with steps (and would be most grateful for a home without toooooo many,) but she has no trouble stepping into your heart! She will give loads of love, devotion and company with her tail wagging in good nature all the time. Original: For the past nine years, this sweet, old girl had lived with a young couple who loved her and cared for her well. Now, Stormy’s owners have a baby who is very allergic to her. It was very sad for them to have to give Stormy up, but they relinquished her, knowing that she could find a loving new home for her golden years through MAESSR. Stormy’s foster family has nothing but glowing things to say about this sweet, quiet, lovable lady. She gets along well with the resident male Springer even when they are left alone in the house. The two go outside together and sit for their treats when they come in. She’s only barked twice since she has been in her foster home and that was when the resident Springer started barking at a noise outside. Her original family did not crate Stormy, and she is so good in her foster home that her foster parents do not crate her either. When she needs to go out, Stormy will come and tell someone by giving him or her just a gentle nudge. Stormy has three dog beds around the house so she chooses where she feels life napping. She does not get on the furniture. Stormy arrived at her foster home with a basket of her own toys which she enjoys sharing with friends. When her foster parents’ seven year old grandson visited, he played with her all afternoon with all her toys. Both had a great time! Adaptable and gentle, Stormy is good in all situations she has experienced in foster care. She loves to be petted and get belly rubs although it is hard for her to sit due to arthritis. When she wants attention, Stormy gives her foster family members her paw. She will lie quietly in whatever room they are in just to be close to them. If a car ride is in order, Stormy is a happy passenger who is quiet and calm all the way, although she does need a little boost to get in. By looking at her, one would never guess her age. Stormy is a spry twelve year old. Her only drawback is climbing stairs. She has difficulty going up stairs and rising from lying down. A forever home with a ramp or no stairs would be best for Stormy. Currently, she does not take any medication for arthritis, but is on one daily tablet of an inexpensive drug for incontinence which works very well for her. Although she has a fatty growth on her belly and some pink growths on her elbows, the vet does not feel these need to be removed. For her age, Stormy\\\'s in good health. Stormy would be a perfect companion for a retired person who wants a quiet, gentle pal. She\\\'s an all round sweetheart!
