    Chrono's Story . . .

Update 04/18/2017:  Koko continues to make progress and is a well behaved pup on the leash and at the dog park.”

Koko continues to make progress and is a well behaved pup on the leash and at the dog park.  He spends most of his day chasing squirrels away from his backyard.

His anxiety has been relieved not only by an over-the-counter supplement, but also by the presence of another dog in the house.

Koko is an energetic Velcro Springer who prefers the company of women (sorry guys) and needs a family who will give him a steady, consistent routine.  He’s looking for a home with another dog and a fenced in yard so he can continue to enjoy canine companionship and pursue his avocation of keeping his neighborhood safe from those pesky squirrels.

    Update 02/22/2017:
“Louie was a unique cat and Koko respected him, but he will chase any other cat that crosses his path.”
Koko has made great progress with following commands and walking on a leash.  He even can be trusted off leash. He is very social with other dogs as long as they are friendly towards him. However, he is very protective of his house and foster mom when strangers stop by or a dog shows any aggression towards him.
Recently Koko lost his playmate, Louie the cat, and he was very distressed when Louie became ill. He stayed by his friend’s side until the end. Louie was a unique cat and Koko respected him, but he will chase any other cat that crosses his path.
Car rides are no longer an issue for Koko since he loves to be with his foster mom, especially when she takes him to cool places like Great Falls for a long hike or the pet store to buy food and treats. Because he’s very energetic, Koko needs regular walks and should have a fenced yard so that he can chase squirrels and play with toys to his heart’s content.
A most determined counter-surfer, no amount of scolding will deter Koko from his objective. And his thievery is not limited to food. On a recent trip to a house with young children, Koko stole and hid toys from the little ones. He is good with children, but does not understand how to share with them.
Koko has made so much progress since becoming a MAESSR boy.  He would love his own special family, one that has time to take him on long walks and play with him. If it sounds like he would fit in with your family, consider adopting this sweet boy…just keep your counters clear!

    Update 01/24/2017:
Three cheers for this guy who is the star of his obedience class!!“

Chrono, known as Koko, is a great dog!  His anxiety has improved in spite of much traveling with his foster mom.  He goes everywhere with her and is a well behaved guest, minus a bit of counter-surfing.

This little guy does not have good vision.  The vet believes he had an injury to his left eye so he has difficulty with stairs and catching a ball.  The problem doesn’t slow him down, but he does run into objects while pursuing a ball or squirrel and has received a few scrapes that way.

He is very slow to recognize people so even his familiar humans approach him with caution, allowing him to sniff before petting his head.

Koko loves kids as young as two, especially when they drop food, and gets along with any dog who is friendly to him.  Three cheers for this guy who is the star of his obedience class!!   His foster mom can let him off leash with confidence that he will return when called.

What progress this love has made and is continuing to make.  The star of the obedience class will soon be ready to be the star of a lucky family’s home.  Keep an eye on this super Springer!!

    Update 12/19/2016:
      "
This handsome young gent is somewhat of a high maintenance pup right now but worth every minute invested."

Chrono, who goes by Koko in his foster home, continues to show progress on multiple fronts since becoming a MAESSR dog.  He is doing much better with crating, with walking on the leash, and his rash has cleared up.  He still has an infection in his left eye that may be due to an allergy; there is continuing attention to this.  He is on a rabbit-based food with sweet potatoes as a snack…yummy!!  His foster mom has discovered that anything with poultry is to be avoided and has gone so far as to change the cat's diet so Koko wouldn't get anything with poultry.

He loves his day care and does very well with other dogs.  His only big issue is anxiety which the supplement is helping.  His dislike of anyone other than his foster mom being in the house, especially men, is still a challenge.  While not to be trusted with run-of-the-house when his foster mom leaves home, Koko does settle in his crate and is so glad to see her return.  Road trips are stressful for him, even when going to his favorite store (a pet-friendly one, of course) or to the park for a walk.

This handsome young gent is somewhat of a high maintenance pup right now but worth every minute invested.   Santa is sure to reward him for being a good boy, or, perhaps, it would be best if Mrs. Claus made the stop at Koko's this year.  Check back for continuing news on this one…

    Original:
“Chrono is a lover once he knows people, but is a one person dog and prefers to have all of his owner’s attention.”

Chrono came to MAESSR from a Virginia family that was unable to give him the attention he needed.  He is a very happy guy now in his foster home.

The new fellow in town is housetrained but is a rascal that loves to counter-surf and dumpster dive.  When his foster family leaves the house, Chrono gets nervous but has been much more relaxed since he has been given an inexpensive anti-stress supplement.

Chrono follows basic commands although walking on a leash is a work in progress.  He is shy when approached by other dogs, but is learning how to socialize and be a well-mannered pup with the help of a professional.  This playful love chases toys and is working on sharing with other dogs while at doggy daycare.

He is nervous about car rides but tolerates them without any issues since he loves to be with people.  Similarly, while he hates his crate, he needs to stay there when Mom leaves so he doesn’t get into any trouble.

Chrono is a lover once he knows people, but is a one person dog and prefers to have all of his owner’s attention.  Since he is a young dog, he benefits from regular walks and should have a fenced in yard so he can chase squirrels and play with toys to his heart’s content.   Ideally, he needs a retired person or someone that works from home so he can receive the attention he needs.  Once secure, this MAESSR fellow will be a well-mannered pup.
