    Bella 9's Story . . .
    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________

Update 07/28/2014:   “She loves to be outdoors and will stand with her paws on the window sill for quite a while, just watching what's going on out there."

Sweet, sweet Bella continues to thrive in her foster home.  She loves the attention she receives from her foster mom and plays nicely with her canine foster brothers.

A recent visit to the vet confirmed that Bella had a urinary tract infection.  She had a few accidents indoors when left for an extended period of time or when she became excited about a visitor to the house.  After several days on her medication, Bella has been accident free.  When she completes the meds for her UTI and whipworm treatment, Bella will receive a pending vaccination.

This cutie is very eager to please. If she thinks her foster mom is going outside, Bella quickly runs to the door and sits patiently to have her leash clipped on.  She loves to be outdoors and will stand with her paws on the window sill for quite a while, just watching what’s going on out there.  Once outside, she sniffs and sniffs everywhere she goes and makes a beeline for anything she detects in the ivy or up a tree.

A good watchdog, Bella sounds the alarm when someone comes to the door.  She also barked at the thunder one night during a storm, but only for 10 seconds; she then went back to sleep. Good girl!

While she reportedly didn’t play with toys in her previous home, Bella has certainly come around!  She now chases a ball with her foster brother, plays tug-o-war, loves to chew on a bone, and enjoys her filled Kongs.

Bella would be happiest in a home where someone was around during the day.  She’s a little shadow that follows her foster mom everywhere and wants to be as close to her as possible.   If you look up the meaning of the word “belle” in the dictionary, you’ll find it to be “a young lady of superior beauty and attractions.”  Who knows………you just might find Bella’s picture there, too.

Original:   “Bella is happiest when she is curled up at her person’s feet. All she wants to do is make “her” someone happy.

Bella came from a Maryland family with a nine year-old, a brand new baby, and another baby on the way.  Her owner was a bit overwhelmed and felt she really couldn’t give Bella the attention she deserved and was leaving her alone too often.  And, so, this total sweetheart became a MAESSR girl!

This young lady immediately fit right in with her new foster family and two other Springers.  Bella is very healthy and active and loves being outside.  She enjoys running around the pool and watches her two foster brothers dive in to retrieve balls; so far, she hasn’t ventured in herself.  She is pretty good on a leash until she sees a bird. Then, as a true bird dog, she will point and then take off like a shot!

As much as Bella likes to be outside, she is perfectly content inside with her people. She doesn’t get on the furniture (even when she sees her 2 spoiled foster brothers climb up!), hasn’t chewed anything, and is housetrained.  She sleeps on the floor in the bedroom at night and doesn’t make a peep until her foster mom’s feet hit the floor in the morning.  She knows a few commands: “sit,” “paw,” “come,” and “down.” She has been caught counter-surfing twice when food was left a little too close to the edge of the counter.  But, after a sharp ”NO,” she knew she had done something wrong, put her head down and crawled over to sit in the corner with the saddest face to melt anyone’s heart!  When no one is home she stays in the kitchen/family room and has not had any accidents.  When her people arrive home she is absolutely ecstatic, and her whole backside wiggles until it seems her tail will fall off!  Sometimes she needs to be told not to jump up but, if her folks bend over, she loves to give kisses.

Bella is very smart and has quickly picked up on the rules around the house.  Her two brothers have to “sit” before their food bowls are placed in front of them and “wait” until their mom says “OK!” before they are allowed to dig in. Bella watched this procedure once and immediately followed suit. What a good girl!

The younger foster sister loves to chew on the Kong (especially if there is something inside), chases a ball, and easily shares toys with her brothers.

All in all, Bella is one fabulous dog for just about any family.  She would be perfect in a household with children and other dogs.  But, she would also do fine as a single dog with people who are home a lot and can give her the cuddles she deserves.  She has the sweetest temperament and is a true Velcro Springer.  Bella is happiest when she is curled up at her person’s feet.  All she wants to do is make “her” someone happy.  Some lucky family will get a truly special little girl!  Is your home ready for the best little Springer around?
